3 Secrets For Writing Blog Articles That Google Loves

google love

No real writer wants to write articles specifically for search engines (like Google), because they like to write instead for the enjoyment of their readers. Yet most marketers will admit that they absolutely do write blog articles for the search engines, with an end goal in mind, to be read.

The truth is, is that in order for your blog articles to be read on the web, people have to be able to find them, yet they have to be interesting and useful for the reader as well. So what’s the secret? How can we write more articles that readers enjoy yet Google loves? Here are three tips that work for me, and will definitely work for you as well…

Secret #1 – Add Your Keywords Naturally

You must do proper keyword research in your niche in order to find keywords and keyword phrases that you actually have a chance for ranking for, and when you find those keywords you  must add them to your articles naturally.

It’s very important that you do not “stuff” your article with keywords like in the old days, because that is a sure signal to Google that your article is spam.

You also need to make sure that you are adding your keywords enough for Google to realize that it is the topic of your article. So make sure that your keywords are:

  • In Your Title
  • In Your First Paragraph
  • Added Several Times In Your Article (where they make the most sense)
  • In Your Last Paragraph

Follow this formula and you are sure to write articles that Google recognizes and shows in search results.

Secret #2 – Write Consistently

Search engines such as Google love “freshness”. This is one of the simplest but most powerful strategies I use to dramatically increase web traffic to my site: You Must Write Consistently.

Writing more often on your blog is truly the key to Google falling in love with you and sending you free traffic everyday. The more you write, the more you train Google to spider your blog to see if you have new content. The more often Google visits your site because of your “fresh factor”, the faster your content appears in the search engine results.

Secret #3 – Include Related Terms and/or Links

There has been a lot of SEO confusion over the years about including links in articles. I think some of this confusion occurred because of the rules and guidelines surrounding article submissions to article directories, etc.

But the guidelines for third party sites and what you need to include in your own blog articles are two different things. Good SEO demands that there be a resource (related to your content) given to readers. It’s good for the reader and Google loves when you include related terms, related keywords, and related links.

So what does related mean? Well Google makes it easy for you. Do a search for your keyword term. I’ll use dog training as an example. Google always includes related search terms for that keyword phrase at the bottom of the first page.

ishot 1 300x122

These are “related terms” for the keyword phrase dog training. Google loves when you include those sorts of terms and links to that type of related content in your articles. So don’t be afraid to give your readers a related resource:  a link to a related article, a link to another website, a link to a related news story, related images, etc.

You don’t need a lot, but just a sprinkle of one to three related terms/links in your blog articles is enough to show Google that you know what you are talking about, and that you have included related resources that readers would likely search for.

Conclusion

Many people remember to do one of these things I’ve discussed here today, but rarely do they put all three together on a regular basis. When you combine the three secrets and use them consistently, you will see significant improvements in your blog traffic, your Alexa ranking, and the number of qualified opt-ins you receive.

Keywords added in the first paragraph and title of the post are most effective. I don’t do much research about keyords but whenever I wrote a killer post I try to include the effective keywords in it.

Thanks, Lisa Angelettie
I am not using any advanced trick for it. I write article simply, use keywords in between my content. Use Bold, Underline, Italic. I think that’s quite enough. :)

Thanks :)

Hey Sharat,
Yep, including bold, underline and italics are also a great way of giving your keywords a slight boost. Thanks for adding:)

Driving traffic to a website through a blog is little bit difficult by if you worked hard through organic SEO directly for your web site, it will be more beneficial.

Good points Lisa. There is another thing you can do, if it doesn’t totally derail your central theme, and it is, finding popular trends over social networking websites and search engines and somehow incorporating those trends into the blog posts you are preparing. This way you can improve traffic from search engines because the hot trends are constantly being crawled by them. Just a thought.

This is an excellent point StormDriver. The amount of “user generated” content around a specific topic also raises it’s importance in the search engines’ eyes. User generated content usually means: Twitter, Facebook, Forum comments, and other social media sites. Thanks for adding that:)

Super cool post, Lisa! Especially the #3 secret. This is really true – you need to include related search terms on your post and you definitely need to create a separate post for each of the related search terms, if you want to get ranked high for your primary keyword – in your example, dog training.

Oh yes, secret #1 is totally right! I’ve seen a lot of articles that talks about something and *poof* keyword in the setence suddenly appears with no apparent reason or connection with the sentence. Great article! :)

Yeah, point #2 (write consistently) is a good one. The big “G” loves it when you update your website regularly (I’m talking like once per day, at least). After a month or two, they’ll index your new post as soon as you ping (when you hit publish), because they want to get your stuff out there ASAP.

Nice short and straight to the point tips.
My most valuable takeaway was this -CONSISTENCY.
Google loves freshness, i didn’t used to think of it like this before.
Now, I see I have got more work to do. I publish only once a week, would you consider this fresh enough for google?

Honestly, I don’t care what kind of content Google loves. It loves all kinds of content. I care more what content my readers love.

I think we get a little too wrapped around the search engine axle that we sometimes forget to connect with our readers. They were our original target to begin with.

SEO is important, but it’s not the end all be all. There are other ways to get traffic like guest posting and via social media.

If we focus on connecting with our readers through good content, they’ll spread the love and Google will pick up on it, too.

The technique of including related terms is what I had overlooked in my article-writing efforts. It makes sense, as Google Inc wants readers to stay longer on their search engines by keeping them engaged, so that they get more business… What about dofollow and nofollow with regards to linking within articles? Could you elaborate on that?

That’s simple and well delivered points, thanks for sharing. Blog writing is just like conveying things to your friend, so don’t try to stuff keywords artificially. It will spoil the content and take your post to the other end.

I love the way you deliver/presented your article. very unique! ^.^ Google is a keyword addict and we can’t blame him for being the BIG G! Although, I still have not mastered the keyword researching, I still try my best to innie-minnie-mainie-mow hundreds of it.
