Google PR Update is Finally Here

by Sathishkumar on January 20, 2011

The long awaited PR update from Google is finally here, but it’s not a good news for most of the bloggers and webmasters. The Google Page Rank update which happened today after a very long time seems to be a strict one from Google and many blogs got only a minor update in their PR. It’s not a great news, yet people like me are excited about this update, because this blog (TechieMania) got a PR of 1 from zero.

Google Page Rank Update January 2011

According to SEO experts Page Rank is of two types, one is the public PR which was updated today and can be detected by Google Toolbar or SearchStatus Add-on for Firefox. The second one is the Real PR which updates more often, to improve the Google search engine results and can’t be detected using any toolbar.

One of the main factor which determines the PR is the quality and quantity of links to your website. You need to take care of both of these things, to get a good PR for your website. This blog TechieMania got a huge number of backlinks but it seems the backlinks quality was a bit on the downside. That might be the only reason TechieMania got PR 1.

To increase the number of backlinks for your blog or website, follow these steps:

1. Do article marketing on High PR article directories.

2. Do blog commenting on High PR dofollow niche blogs.

3. Do forum posting on High PR forums.

4. Do guest blogging on High PR niche blogs.

5. Promote your blog in Social Media sites.

If you are not aware of the number of backlinks for your blog, use the tool given below to check it.

Backlink Checker

But remember building backlinks will not be enough to get a good PR. You need to do On Page SEO along with producing and publishing quality contents regularly for your blog.

Update: Google once again updated its PR on June 27, 2011 and it has been a great news for most of the bloggers and webmasters (even for me too since TechieMania PR has gone from 1 to 4). The PR update which happened today is not a strict one from Google and most of the blogs and websites have seen a strong rise in their Page Rank.

    Satish,

PR 1 for you is definitely less but may be your internal links pulled you down, definitely too much of internal/external links are bad

  • http://techiemania.com John Rampton

It’s been a while since they have done a huge mashup like this. I think people that are giving real content will be helped by this (as long as they’ve been around for a while). I had several of my blogs go up to a PR 3 and am very excited about Techiemania!

  • http://www.synactable.com Brian Rogel

    Hey Sathishkumar,

I think this latest Google PageRank update just raises even more questions. Up until this point SEOmoz’s domain mozRank has been extremely well correlated to Google’s PageRank…it simply gets updated much more frequently.

Let’s take this current blog as an example. You have a domain mozRank of 4.5+ that means SEOmoz estimates that your PR (at least from the homepage) will be either a 4 or 5. Along with that, Google/Matt Cutts suggest that an average PR for an ordinary website is a 3.

This website has a domain mozRank of 4.5+, an immensely high Alexa traffic rating (only loosely related but still impressive), over 10,000 backlinks, thousands of pages…and receives a PageRank of 1? I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a miserably inaccurate measure of this website’s true authority.

Man, does it feel good to get that off my chest. I apologize for the long comment but it’s time to retire the public PageRank if this is how they plan to run it. Thanks for the heads up on the change, you do a great job with your website here.

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathish

Hi Brain, thanks for explaining your point. Well the comment is a bit long but it does matter. You have told the true fact of what has happened in this PR update here. With the huge number backlinks and Alexa Rankings (and with some predictions from web tools) I was expecting a PR of 5 or atleast 4. But when I came to know that I got only PR 1, I was really shocked. But I can’t do anything about it now. So I just left this to Google and I started concentrating more on my blog.

Most people felt sad about this PR update because there were too many PR drops and few minor PR updates. It seems Google is using a new measure for PR. Hope I will crack it next time. Anyways, thanks for your appreciation.

    • http://techiemania.com John Rampton

Google has to be adding other things to the equation. I have a few other blogs that shouldn’t be nearly what they are. Techiemania will get there soon!

  • http://technileaks.com Salman Saeed

Hey that’s great. Congratulations for the increase in PR.
I am still on ZERO too :/

  • http://www.methods2earn.com Vijayraj Reddy

  • http://about.me/kaiserthesage Jason Acidre

I think it’s not yet done, my blog as well as with most of the blogs that I’ve been following for the past year (with PR 0) haven’t been updated yet, well, I’m hoping that the process of updating the PR is not yet done, or perhaps it’s just a partial update from Google’s end.

  • http://www.comptalks.com Bishwajeet @Comptalks

Does anyone have any good site for backlinking to help with Google PR? Trying to get The Million Dollar Website Ranked! Thanks!

Also does anyone know a good script to download/buy for allowing people to post comments on your site? Just like these comments?

  • http://www.patchworkoftips.com/ Udegbunam Chukwudi

Only my root domain of my main site got a page rank boost. My blog remained stuck @ PR 3 and I sincerely can’t be bothered as I’m quite comfortable with it considering I haven’t being posting as regularly as before ;-)

  • http://geekymob.com/ Ayush Gupta

Congo bro. But still my PR is 0

  • electrioncs wholesale

a long wait, I will remember!

  • http://www.allwhite3000.co.uk/ Thai kumar

There is no doubt here that blogging has become really well-liked and its very nice

  • PageRank Updated

In my opinion, I think this PR update has a connection with Panda campaign Google expanded during many months ago. Content has the very important role in this PR update, the websites/blogs with good quality content, frequently refresh, unique & useful information will be ranked higher than low quality sites.

  • PlasticDucting

thanks for sharing information.a web page should contain the information that the users are looking for – your articles.

  • solar cell

get a good PR for your website. This blog TechieMania got a huge number
of backlinks but it seems the backlinks quality was a bit on the
downside. That might be the only reason

  • pain therapy

I think too that you need both approaches to be a successful blogger…
Part of the process is hard, you read different sources|blogs|magazines to keep your ideas flowing, and then, it comes the smart part.
