Google+ Will Likely Chip Away At Facebook’s Dominating Market Share

by Sathishkumar on October 18, 2011

Google is always a giant. Not only in search engine, but also in the tech world. It is simply unstoppable. At least the current record of financial figures of Google Inc. says so. In this quarter in UK alone revenues has reached a massive $1.05 billion.

Google Plus Facebook Market Share

In all the products and services, Google is making gain after gain, and not to forget, it is still on the top spot among search engines.

Out of all, the most impressive gain of the company is its strong entry in the social media market after the likes of Orkut and Google Buzz. It seems Google had always wanted to venture this field, but never could quite make it. The third quarter financial figures suggest that the giant is actually making early headway now in the social networking scene.

The Google+ social product, is taking off like a rocket after it was recently made available for public. Earlier, it was on beta phase and invite only. According to recent figures, the users base is now 40 million, though still under half of Facebook strength, but it achieved this milestone in the shortest ever period. One thing is sure, if it grows at this speed, Facebook would find it as its rival.

The Q3 report also revealed the company’s new hiring is 2585, which shows it is growing at an incredible speed. Moreover, the mobile OS Android of Google is also taking a northward graph in popularity quarter after quarter. Another big factor of its growth is its increased revenue by 33 percent compared to the third quarter of 2010.

Just imagine, if Google commands over the social networking numbers what Facebook has now, how much power Google will have over the Internet.

Google+ is progessing very fast but it’s would be toughest job to outrank Facebook in social media competition, let’s wait for coming years and picture will be much clear.

Agreed with your point Aaron, We’ve to for coming years.

Hi Aaron, the speed at which Google Plus is growing is really astonishing. So I think Google Plus will surely be a touch competitor for Facebook and it may sometime outrank Facebook.

TO outrank facebook google + have to lot more .. more means more becuase facebook will not stop they will also do their best . This is true that google got good amount of traffic but now it is going down .

    • Seo Company

Yes, Recently it is disclosed that Google+ Traffic is getting down.

      • Sathishkumar

Hi Aatif and Aarti, the traffic report was not official and although we have heard that its traffic is going down, the userbase is increased twice as before. So I think, Google plus is growing the right direction and it will certainly be a competitor to Facebook sometime in the future.

The competition between Google and Facebook will never stops here and it is good as they will provide their best service to the users. For me it is not easy for Google to defeat Facebook at least in the near future

    • Sathishkumar

“Atleast in the near future”. Yeah Google Plus can’t outrank Facebook for sometime but there is every chance that it will happen after few years.

If Google dominates the social network platform then it will gain so much power on the internet level. However the competition is still tough for them. It will take Google+ some time before it is able to reach Facebook levels. What we can not say is how much time it will take.

It is very interesting that Google Plus sometimes outranks your Facebook and Twitter that users have had for years in the search results. How could this happen? A study showed that 83% of Google Plus users aren’t active, we agree with Tim Ryan that Google still has a journey ahead of them before they reach Facebook levels.
