How To Avoid Screwing Up Your SEO

by Sathishkumar on December 5, 2011

The whole point of SEO or search engine optimization is to establish visibility and web presence more effectively. This process will boost the ranking of a website and bring it closer to the top results. Therefore, more customers will be able to view the landing page of your site and will provide significantly increased viewers over time. This kind of promotion is most sought out by companies who want to gain more visitors in their website, most especially those agencies who have just started breaking in to the industry.

Screw Up SEO

However, there are a number of companies who have been scammed by so-called SEO specialists and end up losing money as the approach was being implemented. Improving your page’s rank in popular search engines takes months, even up to a year to attain, not overnight. Some of these “SEO experts” take the faster route by playing the field dirty.

They use unethical ways to direct traffic to a website and one of which is the repetitive use of keywords. Top search engines do not condone this approach because of the obvious manipulation. Keyword density in an article or content should only have a certain percentage. About 2%-5% is enough per write up. If your SEO continues to use repetitive keywords, then you are a very good candidate for a lifetime ban in these popular search engine sites.

Another improper scheme is by having a fake landing page. A landing page is the page or site you will be directed to upon clicking a link or URL. Guests will be directed to a landing page that is not at all related to the keyword it indicates to have. In other words, viewers were tricked to land in your page with no relevant information on what they are researching. For example, you title a page “video Manchester united” when in reality this is a page about weight loss.

You have to keep in mind that web content is the key to directing traffic. Keywords are strategically used to target specific audiences wanting to gain more information on a specific topic. You should settle on a keyword or phrase that will most likely be entered in a search engine box.

SEO companies sometimes supply or hire third party firms that provide web content or articles. As the owner of the website, you should carefully screen which write ups should be published in your site. Quality control is very important because potential clients will use these materials as a basis in forming their impression towards your company.

Before going ahead and hiring an SEO service, have a little background check on the company’s reputation. It is better to spend a little more on an established company that guarantees results than having an agency that is willing to work around a budget but cannot deliver a favorable outcome.

I have heard of SEO companies which ruin even the little effort you had first put in on your site. It is important that you be very careful when contacting companies to do your SEO for you. I even think it is better if you learn how to do it on your own.

Sometime I am afraid of using SEO service as we don’t know exactly what they will do for our sites.. They might use blackhat SEO that will ruin our sites. Read a lot of SEO companies reviews is good to avoid on a bad thing

You should both learn what SEO is so you know what SEO companies are talking about and if you going to hire a SEO company then take references and preferably go on recommendations from friends.

There are so many companies out there who promise to provide best SEO services at lower prices, but you have to first check their reputation before trusting them.

Before hiring an SEO company it’s important to do some research and have a basic understanding of the industry. Unfortunately there are plenty of SEO service providers that participate in black hat tactics that you might not even be aware of until it’s too late. Research potential providers and ask for references and case studies.
