How To Get Free Traffic To Your Blog Using MGID Traffic Exchange Widget

by Sathishkumar on March 31, 2011

As a blogger, I always strive to find a way to get more traffic to my blog, since Traffic is the backbone of every blog and without it, a blog is nothing but a dead page on the World Wide Web. I have tried Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Marketing, Forum Posting, Article Marketing, etc, and most of these methods helped me to get real and targeted traffic. I was happy with the results of my work and I have changed my focus on creating contents for my blog. Last week, when I went for a keyword research on Google for the keyword “Free Traffic”, I read few articles about MGID Traffic Exchange widget, and how people got benefited from their system, which helps them to get tons of free traffic without doing much work.

MGID Free Traffic Exchange Widget

Since I am more of a researcher, I went ahead to their website and I have created a 4×1 widget and placed it at one of my Technology blog. After two days, I logged into my Google Analytics account to check the performance of blog traffic with MGID. Well, to be honest I was really amazed when I have seen the numbers. Before placing the MGID Widget at my blog, I was getting around 200 unique visitors per day, but after I have placed it, I was getting around 350 unique visitors per day which is a 75% increase in the total number of hits. But still I was concerned about the legality of the traffic and I want to check whether the traffic is real.

My plan to check the legality of the MGID traffic is integrating my Google AdSense account and Analytics account, since real users are the one’s most likely to click on the AdSense ads. So, I have done the AdSense – Analytics integration and waited for two days. Then I logged into my Analytics account to check the Top AdSense referrers and I have seen MGID in there at the third place, just behind Google and Stumbleupon. This clearly shows that the traffic from MGID is real. So, if you are planning to get start with their Traffic Exchange system, the following guide will help you.

How To Start With MGID?

1. Visit MGID.com and click on the Free Traffic Exchange Tab at the Top right corner of the website.

2. You will be taken to their demo page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and fill in all the required details.

Note: While selecting the categories, select the ones which are closely related to your blog niche and then click on the Order Button.

Wait for a reply from the MGID representative and if your blog gets approved, you will get a code from them and install it at your blog, to display related posts with thumbnails of other blogs who are using this traffic exchange widget. Likewise, your blog posts will also appear on other blogs. By this way you will get free traffic to your blog without spending too much time on Traffic building. Since I have tested their Traffic Exchange system and I am entirely satisfied with it, I would recommend MGID to every one of the bloggers out there who are looking to get free traffic to their blog.

Thanks for sharing… But i have heard placing widgets like mgid, wahoha and others on your blog can get your adsense account banned…!

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Nope it’s not true. I am using this MGid Widget at my technology blog, where AdSense is my primary source of income. I haven’t had any problem with it till now.

      • http://www.iblognet.com/ Sahil

okk.. Will give it a try soon!!!

      • http://www.iblognet.com Sahil

Got approved… lets see if it makes any difference in my blog traffic… BTW what’s your tech blog???

        • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

My tech blog is mentioned in my bio buddy. Check it. BTW Let us know what is your experience with MGID.

          • Anthony

Hey Sathishkumar, nice article and cool blog. Don’t see the MGID widget on your site though. Which one is it? (I guess that’s one way of saying it didn’t negatively affect my user experience.)

          • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi Anthony, Thanks for visiting my blog. Actually I have mentioned that I have placed the widget at my technology blog (www.tech2date.com) and not here. Seems you got it wrong. Go check it out there.

          • http://www.iblognet.com/ Sahil

After using it for almost one month… finally I removed the MGID widget due to two reason. First of all the bounce rate went tremendously high day by day. It was used to be between 40 to 50%, but after placing the MGID widget for a week, the bounce rate went high on 70 to 80%.

Secondly I think so its against the TOS of Adsense where they say “Google ads may not be placed on pages receiving traffic from certain sources. For example, publishers may not participate in paid-to-click programmes, send unwanted emails or display ads as the result of the action of any software application”. And MGID comes under a third party service which generates invalid impression. Read here more: goo. gl / PQjKD

Also when i checked the MGID stats, the number of clicks to my blog was just 10% of the outgoing clicks from my blog. Also I didn’t find MGID widget on this or on your tech2date blog. Did you removed from your tech blog???

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi There, I am really glad you liked this article. Hope you will use this widget at your blog and get good results with it. Looking forward to see you around here soon.

  • Atulperx

Well I think this traffic is good for general niche blogs . I have seen few tech niche and webmaster niche blogs using this system but sometime I laugh like crazy when I notice pics displayed by this system . Just think how you will feel when a tech blog is displaying image like – Check the hottest tollywood girls with sizzling cleavage or etc .

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi Atul, that’s why you need to select the categories wisely. If you select entertainment for a tech niche blog, then you will see those kinda images at the widget. Selecting the categories is very very important with the MGID Widget.

  • http://www.methods2earn.com Vijayraj Reddy

Yes many people are not using the MGID traffic bcoz some experts say its traffic exchange method and it may violate Adsense TOS…

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi Vijay, I haven’t heard much about it till now. Will check into this topic for sure. Thanks for your comment.

  • http://wordpressthememagazine.com Bjorn

Why should it violate the AdSense Tos? I can imagine it violate the adwords Tos but not AdSense

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

You told it right, Bjorn. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment here.

  • http://www.comptalks.com Bishwajeet @Comptalks

I have got several emails from them but placed this widget on site as I don’t feel sharing of traffic as good thing

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi Bishwajeet, sharing the traffic with them will bring you double amount of traffic that too targeted ones. So I do feel its a good option. But its just my opinion.

  • http://www.bloggingtrick.com ajeet

  • http://www.indiabucket.com/ Rakesh Kumar

I have applied to mgid traffic program but the problem is i have choose some wrong categories by mistake. Here i would like to have an advice from you that Can i change categories latter? Please suggest me.

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi Rakesh, you can change the categories later. For that you need to contact their support team. Just send them an email expressing your mistake and ask them to change the categories. They will do it for you.

  • http://www.bhsource.net Goran

I was contacted by one of their agents, and have used their program for about 2 weeks. I was not impressed at all. They promised increase in traffic by 100% and all I saw was up to 20 uniques per day which is nowhere close to 10%. Also the banner that you need to add on your site is huge, it takes up the entire bottom of the website, it’s an eye sore. I would not advise using their service but it’s a personal choice. Good luck.

    • http://www.techiemania.com Sathishkumar

Hi Goran, thanks for sharing your experience with us. Till now, MGID is working good for me and I have seen most people getting good results from using this widget. Its sad to see that it didn’t worked for you. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment here.
